Coco Gauff closed the Asian swing in style by winning the 2025 Wuhan Open, defeating fellow American Jessica Pegula

6–4, 7–5 in the WTA 1000 final. Ranked world No. 3, Gauff weathered serving pressure yet seized the crucial passages of play, breaking through late in each set with aggressive baseline patterns and proactive returns.The triumph is Gauff’s second title of the season—her first since Roland-Garros in June—and the 11th singles title of her career. She now heads to November’s WTA Finals in Riyadh as the top-ranked U.S. player, carrying significant hard-court momentum.

This was the pair’s first-ever WTA final against one another after teaming up in doubles at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Pegula’s strong week in Wuhan secures her place at the year-end finale, where she will join Gauff and compatriot Amanda Anisimova.
